Big Bags
Big bags are large-format woven bags made of polypropylene (PP) fitted with lifting loops made of the same material. They get their name because of their large capacity, which is between 120 and 2,500 litres. Therefore, the literal name "big bags" is quite appropriate. In international usage, the abbreviation FIBC is often used, which stands for Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container. This term stands for "flexible intermediate container for bulk solids".
The maximum permissible load varies depending on the design of the big bag and is between 500 and 1,500 kg. The Safety Working Load (SWL), i.e. the safety-relevant load, is indicated on the label of the big bag. Big bags can be either uncoated or coated.
They are used in many areas. In the construction industry, the timber industry and in horticulture they are used for storing and transporting stones, sand, debris, wood and waste.
